Audition Dance Camp
Scottsdale Desert Stages Theatre Children's Academy conducts an Audition Dance Class to prepare young actors ages 3-19 for the auditions for Gerry Cullity's The Butterfly's Day. which are at 4pm on Monday, April 1, 2013 and the show runs from May 23rd to June 23rd, 2013. Give your child the opportunity to learn the audition dance in advance. Classes are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, March 25, 26 and 28, 2013. Choose from two classes; 4:00-5:30 or 5:30-7:00. $60 per child. Reservations recommended. No experience needed. Be prepared for movement. Please wear appropriate dance shoes; no flip-flops or sandals will be allowed.
Desert Stages Theatre opened its Academy for Theatrical Arts in January, 2000 to help young would-be actors discover their creative abilities and ease their entrée into the world of performing. Today the Academy offers fall and spring classes in musical production and operates its popular Camp for Young Actors every summer.
Work It Wednesdays
Join us on Wednesday, March 27th for 1-on-1 instruction from Lisa Barton and Terry Temple choose from either 4 to 530 or 530 to 7, just like Audition Dance Class.
The time spent with Lisa will consist of:
- over all audition perpetration
- correct way to slate and introduce ourselves as well as stage presence
- determine our "types" and how to appropriately incorporate the part we are interested in into our auditions
- wardrobe advise
The time spent with Terry will consist of how to choose, prepare and perform audition songs. Actors should 2 songs with contrasting musical theatre style or, if unable to choose songs, some songs will be provided.
Tuition for the class is $40 or $25, if paired with the dance class.
